The Ministry for Regional Development exercises the function of the central State administration authority in the field of undertaking in compliance with the legislation in force. In addition to important recommendations and comments of the Ministry, you will find here a number of model documents for the management of burial grounds and crematoria and a survey of public as well as non-public burial grounds in the CzechRepublic.
The exercise of the function of a central State administration authority in the field of undertaking belongs to the less known competences of the Ministry. The legislation governing this area includes Act no. 256/2001 Coll., on Undertaking and on Amendments to Certain Other Acts, as amended by Act no. 479/2001 Coll., Act no. 320/2002 Coll., Act no. 274/2003 Coll., Act no. 112/2004 Coll. and Act no. 67 Coll. (hereinafter referred to as the Act on Undertaking).
The Act on Undertaking regulates procedures from handing the corpse over to the funeral, including e.g. the conditions for the operation of funeral services, crematoria and burial grounds, transport of human mortal remains or the lease of a grave site. Self-Governing Region Offices issue their approval to operate burial grounds, Rules of a burial ground and changes thereto.
The Act on Undertaking provides otherwise for a number of issues in contrast to initial regulations and that is why it is advisable to consult the provisions of the Act in detail, and to follow them.
